While it is unbelievable, the bacteria that results in Botulism has found a great career in the cosmetic surgery industry. I know it sound strange, but it is true. This is what is found in Botox injections that so many people decide to get to reduce and eliminate the lines on their face. These injections are much less expensive than other types of cosmetic surgery. The process is also done very quickly.
In most cases, the Botox injections will have to be repeated every 4-6 months. There are also very few side effects to be concerned with. One may experience slight swelling and discoloration but the effects are generally mild in nature. It is natural to expect some soreness as well. You may experience a mild headache the following day. The biggest risk involved is the possibility of drooping eyelids or eyebrows. The effect is temporary though and should be gone within a couple of weeks.
What Causes Droopiness to Occur?
The Botulism is a toxin and it is responsible for such droopiness that may occur in the eyelids and eyebrows. This toxin causes the muscles to become paralyzed so that they can’t move. The Botox injection can sometimes cause the muscles around the eyebrows and eyelids to relax too much. However, the toxins will wear off of this area in a short span of time.
